About
The Full Story
Before my life unraveled, I was happy—like really happy. I was married, had two dogs, three stepsons (all freshly graduated from college), and a carefully mapped-out retirement plan. We loved college towns, and I loved school so much that I was in the middle of my Master’s degree in Communications. My B.A. hung proudly on the wall, and I was already daydreaming about what a PhD might look like.
And then, life turned upside down.
When I finally began taking my life back—one shaky Yes at a time—I did finish that Master’s degree. But my world would never look the same. I no longer wanted the PhD. I no longer wanted to live in a college town by myself. My Yeses were pulling me in a new direction.
The truth is, even as a little girl, I dreamed of being a writer. I imagined myself as a great author, though life (and bills) always seemed to get in the way. After grief knocked me flat, I made a conscious decision to say Yes to the woman I had always believed I was meant to be. And that woman writes.
My background is colorful and varied—I have a friend who calls me a “hobby-preneur.” My first job was as a firefighter, I drove a cattle truck in college, ten years in the telecommunications industry (my family collectively racks up about a hundred years there), another decade in financial services, a stint as a stylist that led to a regular segment on the local morning show, building a successful boutique, then home staging, then real estate brokerage… until I finally landed in the work that makes my heart sing: writing and inspiring.
Some people know from the beginning exactly who they are and what they’re meant to do. The rest of us? We say Yes, we stumble, we pivot, and we keep searching until something feels like home. That search, that drive to find what makes me feel alive, is exactly how I ended up here—with you.
It brings me tremendous joy to hear other women share how their Yeses have reshaped their lives, how they’ve grown fuller and braver because of the choices they dared to make. That’s the beauty of this whole journey: we are never done. We are always becoming, always unfolding into the next version of who we’re meant to be.
And friend, I’m so glad you are here.
